Bows, Haircuts, and Cheetahs

This weekend was wonderful! On Friday Kyle and I went to the archery shop to order our bows! They will get here in 3-4 weeks and I'm so excited!  Before the shop we went to breakfast at the Broken Yolk and it was fantastic!  They had delicious fresh-squeezed tangerine juice and the food was wonderful (huge portions)!  After the archery shop we hung out at Kyle's on his back porch in the sun. It was a great day!

Saturday morning I went to get my hair trimmed and I love it! I ran some quick errands with my mom and then Kyle and I went to the Wild Animal Park!  It was such a fun day!  They have started doing the Cheetah Run, where they bring out a cheetah to run so you can see how fast they are.  It was amazing to watch.  After the park we went to Chili's for dinner.  I got a steak and Kyle had honey-chipotle chicken strips.  The food was great!
Ready for a fun-filled day!

Genius goat.

The new bat exhibit!

Cheetah and it's companion.  Amazing to watch the cheetah run.

Kyle feeding the ducks.

Sunday I hung out at home with my family and organized my jewelry making supplies on our deck.  Yet another beautiful day!  Then that night my family went to dinner at La Paloma, which was delicious as always. :)

Today, not so much fun.  I woke up this morning feeling terrible.  I have a cough, runny/stuffy nose, and a bit of a headache.  So naturally I spent the day online, in bed.  I really hope I feel better tomorrow.

Archery

Let me start by saying, I have always loved archery.  I’ve never held a bow in my life but have always been fascinated by it.  I’ve always wanted to take an archery lesson but didn’t really know how to go about it.  About a month ago I mentioned it to Kyle and he said he felt the same way (he had a toy bow as a kid and loved it).  He then decided he was going to find a place where we could take a lesson.  About a week later he signed us up for a class in San Diego and then proceeded to spend most of his waking hours looking at bows online, reading archery books, and just finding out everything he could on the topic.

Fast forward to yesterday…

We had our first archery lesson yesterday and it was so much fun!!  We were in a class of ten people and Kyle was by far the best.  He won a certificate for hitting the target dead center and got his picture taken by the instructor to put on her website.  He was so excited! I was not so great but I plan on practicing until I become amazing!! J I have good form, I guess, but I’m awful at aiming.

In the end, I’m so excited we found something we can do as a couple!  Kyle is buying us both bows and a target so we can practice all we want!  I’m thrilled that he is as excited as he his!  I also can’t wait until I’m as good as he is.

Kyle's 25th!

Friday was Kyle’s 25th birthday and it was actually very laid-back.  I had school in the morning so I didn’t get to see him until almost one o’clock.  I picked him up for lunch and we went to Nessy Burger, which was as delicious as always. J  I told him we could do whatever he wanted, but since he had been working hard all week decided he just wanted to hang out and read.  It was a beautiful day so we read on his back porch (really I read for a little bit and then took a nap in the sun while he read).  It ended up being a great way to spend the afternoon.  That night his parents took us out to dinner at an authentic Japanese restaurant and the food was amazing! We all got a sushi roll for an appetizer and then a meal.  They cooked the food right in front of us and it was just a really fun experience.  I got a Super California Roll (which is just a California roll with freshwater eel on top) and a side order filet mignon (Kyle’s mom gave me her veggies and rice from her dinner).  I can’t remember what roll Kyle got but he loved it, as did everyone else at the table, and for his main dish got a New York strip steak with scallops and fried rice.  Because it was Kyle’s birthday the chef made an “onion cake/volcano” on the grill and had it spew fire.  That was really cool to watch.  After the meal the waitress offered us complementary ice-cream (so of course we said yes).  Kyle’s came out with a candle on it and the waitress brought a birthday hat out for him and took a picture of all of us. All-in-all it was a wonderful day. J

I love Kyle so much and can’t wait to spend a lifetime of birthdays with him.

I don’t have much money right now so I just got him a few little things for his birthday.  I did give him a card though with 25 reasons I love him.  Here they are:

Overview

School:
So after my second week of school I feel a little better/less stressed about all the writing I have to do.  After having projects explained it's not as bad as I originally thought, but still won't be fun. I'm really enjoying my Psych of Personality class.  The teacher is interesting and the book I have to read for the class is really enjoyable. :)  The rest of my classes will just be work for the most part. The subjects aren't very interesting and the teachers are a little boring, one of them talks so quietly it puts me to sleep...

Fun:
My parents went to Mexico this week with some old friends and had a lot of fun.  I most definitely wish I could have gone with them instead of going to class, but alas, that is life.  Not much happened during the week but on Friday Kyle and I met up with some friends for a last bit of fun before one of them went on deployment.  We went to a delicious sushi place and then after the guys played video games while I read a book.  We spent the night at their place and on Saturday helped them pack.  Today is Superbowl Sunday and I'm going to Kyle's house for the game.  Should be fun (I'm rooting for the Giants).  I'm not a big football fan (or a sports fan really) but the big games are fun to watch with a group of people.

Other:
So my best friend is pregnant and she finally posted a baby bump picture online the other day.  She is the cutest pregnant woman I have ever seen!! I hope she posts more soon.  It's hard to be so far away from her during all of her big life moments. :(  Also, another friend just got engaged last night! I couldn't be happier!  She really deserves to have a relationship go the right way and her fiance is a great guy who adores her daughter.  Her ring is also gorgeous (not that this is the important part, but still)!!  This has also put me in wedding mode though, and I can't wait until Kyle and I are engaged!  I will be over the moon and I can't wait to plan a wedding!!

I think that about sums up my week.  Nothing too exciting on my end, but wonderful things happening to friends!! :)

School

This week was my first week back to school after winter break.  I am now officially stressed. I will be working harder this semester than ever before and I'm starting to panic.  I have a total of almost 70 pages in papers I have to write and it's all a little much.  I will read anything assigned to me, but I HATE writing papers.  I'm not good at it and it takes me forever.  Needless to say, this should be an interesting semester.  I hope I can pull off straight A's again.  My goal is to graduate with at least a 3.5 GPA and this semester will make or break that.  Good Luck to me!  Hopefully I can find time to relax during the moments/days when I am about to lose it from the stress.  I'll definitely need to plan out the next 4 months of my life...Here we go.
